How much does WhatsApp Business API cost in 2026?
“How much does WhatsApp Business API cost?” doesn’t have a single answer, and that’s why it’s confusing. The cost has several layers that stack up. Let’s separate them.
Note: exact amounts change often and by country. Here we explain the model; for to-the-cent figures, always check Meta’s and your provider’s current rates.
Layer 1: Meta (per message)
Since mid-2025, Meta charges per delivered template message, and the rate depends on the message category and the recipient’s country:
- Service messages (replying within the 24h window after a customer message) → usually free.
- Utility / authentication / marketing templates (business-initiated messages) → paid, with a different rate by category and country.
Practical translation: if your use case is reactive (the customer writes and you reply in the conversation), most of your messages fall under “service” and you don’t pay Meta for them.
Layer 2: the provider / platform
You almost never talk to Meta directly: there’s software on top (a BSP or a platform). That usually adds a platform fee (per number or per volume) on top of Meta’s rates. There’s everything: from ~€49/month per number to usage-based models.
Layer 3: what your use case actually costs
For an assistant that designs products with AI, there’s a cost that isn’t WhatsApp’s and that people forget: each image generation costs. That’s usually the real expense, not the messages (we cover it in “The hidden cost of generative AI”).
In short
WhatsApp Business API pricing = Meta (per message, free for service) + provider (fee) + your AI cost. If your usage is conversational and reactive, the WhatsApp bill is surprisingly low; what you have to govern is the AI cost and the platform fee.
With Taituri you don’t have to stack layers or build anything: we provide the assistant and the integration with a clear model, without you having to decode Meta’s rates or hire a separate provider.
